2017 SNS Accomplishments Report
It’s been five years since the City of Henderson, on behalf of the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition, began developing the Southern Nevada Strong (SNS) Regional Plan. In the time since, the region has made consistent progress toward advancing the plan’s overarching goals, and 2017 was no exception.
Over the course of the past year, Southern Nevada saw the UNLV School of Medicine welcome its inaugural class, high school graduation rates hit a record 83 percent, and the ground-breaking of the region’s first affordable living community with co-located services for working families. 2017 also marked the first full year the SNS Implementation Office has been staffed. SNS has continued to work toward advancing important regional projects and initiatives. Placing an emphasis on its role as convener and collaborator, SNS developed new partnerships and worked with new community leaders throughout the year. This focus resulted in important community conversations and programming that helped further issues crucial to the progress of the region.
None of the work undertaken by SNS during 2017 would be possible without the commitment and leadership of its community partners – public agencies, nonprofit organizations, private businesses, and engaged citizens working across jurisdictional boundaries to help solve pressing issues in our valley.
The 2017 SNS Accomplishments Report highlights the work and accomplishments of SNS in 2017.
