Notes from the Field: Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA)
WHO: Michael Gordon, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Research, Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA)
WHAT: The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA) is a 501(c)6 membership organization dedicated to developing the economies of Las Vegas, Clark County, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, and Mesquite through regional cooperation, global trade, and global connectivity. It is the economic and community development resource for Southern Nevada.
WHY: LVGEA has been a long-time partner with Southern Nevada Strong (SNS). Leaders from LVGEA took part in the development of the SNS regional plan and now serve on the SNS Steering Committee. SNS and LVGEA meet frequently to discuss economic development priorities for Southern Nevada and collaborative opportunities where support and resources can be shared. LVGEA is championing the effort to build and strengthen relationships between the business community and education sector in an effort to improve educational outcomes and strengthen the region’s homegrown talent pool.
NEXT: LVGEA is key to forecasting trends within economic development, recruiting businesses to Southern Nevada, and ensuring that the workforce is adequately prepared for those businesses. Because these are all important components of the regional plan, continued collaboration between LVGEA and SNS is critical.
“Notes From the Field” is a real-time blog written by our SNS manager that shares notes from meetings with community partners and stakeholders on how they contribute to the progress of the plan. This is an opportunity to follow along on the valley’s progress and receive relevant news on housing, transportation, healthcare, and employment projects.
